KTS’ White Space Radio Wins Award at Tessco’s Innovation Showcase 2012

White space solutions are now a reality with the world’s first commercially available, FCC Certified TV white space solution, the Agility White Space Radio, from KTS Wireless. Tessco’s partner and customer base certainly liked the white space radio as it was awarded an Innovation prize for the Network Systems/Broadband category.

KTS Wireless’ Agility White Space Radio (AWR), the first commercially available FCC Certified White Space radio, has won an Innovation Award at Tessco’s “Innovation Showcase 2012,” held on the club level of the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, MD last week.

KTS Wireless’ Agility White Space Radio won an Innovation Award in the Network Systems/Broadband category with voting from customers and integrator partners who attended the show.

“We are excited to receive this award and honored by the caliber of Tessco’s customers who reviewed our product. This recognition continues to increase awareness about white space technology and the benefits derived in applications with challenging wireless environments. White space can work with various incumbent technologies such as 2.4 GHz and 900 MHz, to provide superior non-line of sight (NLOS) coverage for the most challenging wireless network segments,” said Andy Mancone, Director of Sales and Marketing for KTS Wireless.

With this latest milestone, KTS Wireless and white space database partner Spectrum Bridge, are positioned to take advantage of the growing demand for UHF white space technology. The AWR is a cost-effective alternative that utilizes the unlicensed white space spectrum for monitoring continuous control systems or gathering time-sensitive data in difficult industrial telemetry environments such as water distribution systems, electrical power stations, and offshore oil and gas refineries. This solution can also be used for monitoring public transportation, Public Safety, and remote video surveillance.

The AWR is designed for use in harsh environments based on its weatherproof, ruggedized packaging that incorporates non-line-of-sight (NLOS) white space features. The radio is designed for Ethernet-IP-enabled industrial telemetry applications and supports data rates up to 3 Mbps and ranges up to 5 miles or greater at lower data rates. It operates in the unlicensed spectrum from 470-698 MHz to create point-to-point or point-to-multipoint networks for robust, cost-effective connections that don’t require extensive planning.
